Course Description:
Covering the topics of Confidential Informant (CI) and Undercover (UC) rescue.

This training will cover
CI/UC Rescue Basics

A special legal relationship exists between cooperating individuals (CI) and law enforcement, and we have a duty to protect them while they are working on operations. These operations can be tense, uncertain, and rapidly evolving, along with being very different from traditional warrant service. This training is a mix of lecture and practical scenarios involving rescuing a CI from a vehicle or a structure if things go wrong. This class is designed for certified law enforcement officers that already have at least basic building clearing and firearms handling skills, and seeks to build on that existing skill set.

About the Instructor:
SERGEANT BEN WEEKS: The lead instructor, Ben Weeks, has been with the Garden City Police Department for 18 years. During that time, he has held numerous roles including patrol officer, SWAT sniper, firearms Instructor, rangemaster, and plainclothes narcotics.
This program is a collaborative effort between many individuals and agencies.

Required Equipment:

  • Ballistic Vest – Any type you would wear while on a rescue operation.
  • Empty firearm – any type you would carry on a rescue operation. Both rifle and pistol are recommended if applicable to your operations.
  • ABSOLUTLY NO LIVE AMMUNITION ALLOWED IN THE SCENARIO AREAS.
  • Clothing suitable for clearing buildings and vehicles. I would highly encourage you to wear the same kind of clothing you wear in real operations (SWAT Kit, Duty Uniform, Plainclothes, ETC).
  • Note taking material.
  • Water – one of our training sites does not have functioning water.

KNOA: To promote the cooperation, education and exchange of information among all Law Enforcement Agencies involved in the enforcement of controlled substance laws.
